Our program is designed to assist students in self-directed learning. We start by setting up personalized accounts with Khan Academy and Code.org so we can offer interactive lessons and personalized curriculum. Our Beaverton location is tied in to the Hillsboro School District’s internet services, so online and computer based homework assignments can be completed on-site.
Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace. They tackle math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and more. Their math missions guide learners from kindergarten to calculus using special technology that identifies strengths and learning gaps. At LevelUp Academy, we monitor student progress and tailor each student’s program to help them succeed.
Launched in 2013, Code.org is a non-profit dedicated to expanding participation in computer science by making education widely available. Their vision is that every student should have the opportunity to learn computer science. We use Code.org to engage students in coding opportunities. In less than a day, students can go from not knowing any programming to being able to make their own version of “Flappy Birds”.
We offer student’s the chance to earn their “Digital Citizenship Passport”. This certification course teaches students how to be safe on the internet. We offer lessons on protecting personal information and privacy, dealing with cyber bullies, avoiding malware and viruses, and how to be safe with social media.
